The Jefferson Workforce Connection, also identified as “American Job Center”, is demand driven to address the needs of businesses. In addition, the centers are part of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act designed to assist jobseekers in Jefferson Parish find jobs to achieve a better quality of life. We assist businesses in developing a diverse workforce to be competitive in the global economy. We provide employers access to the most qualified workforce while giving the workers of the region centralized resources for improving their job skills, developing new career paths, and locating the best opportunities our region has to offer. It is the one stop destination for employers and jobseekers in Jefferson Parish and provides multiple programs, including occupational skills training, to assist members in successfully meeting the workforce needs of the 21st century.

The department is staffed with both state and local staff, who are employed by the Louisiana Workforce Commission and Jefferson Parish. They work together in two centers, one located at 1801 Airline Dr., Suite F, Metairie, Louisiana 70001, and the other at 709 Churchill Pkwy. 2nd Floor, Avondale, LA 70094. Funding for the department is generated by the US Department of Labor through the Louisiana Workforce Commission and through various grants that are awarded to the Jefferson Workforce Connection.
