Jefferson Parish Community Development Department

Description

Level 1

The Jefferson Parish Community Development Department administers the entitlement grants received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  These grants are:

  1. Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) – provides funds to support the development of viable urban communities through decent housing, and expanding the economic opportunities of persons of low and moderate-income.
  2. HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) – provides funds to expand the supply of safe, decent, and affordable housing for low-income Americans, such as the First-Time Homebuyer Assistance and Housing Rehab programs.
  3. Emergency Shelter Grant Program (ESG) – provides funds for emergency shelters for the homeless and other programs to prevent homelessness.

The Jefferson Parish Community Development Department is conducting a citizen survey to help determine the needs of its residents.

This information will be used in part to help develop the Parish’s future Action Plans and Consolidated Plans for the Jefferson HOME Consortium. The plans will help the parish decide what housing services and other community development projects should be undertaken in different neighborhoods.
